What Are Positive Daily Affirmations?
Affirmations are positive thoughts or statements about some outcome you wish to achieve, such as wealth, success, or health. Instead of negative self-talk, you can use positive daily affirmations to direct what your focus will be. You can conquer your past and present fears, and enjoy your present or create the future by affirmation. Affirmations redirect your values, help formulate goals, or prepare you for situations, whenever or wherever they may occur.
You can say your positive daily affirmations silently or aloud to yourself. Repetition of affirmations will also counteract negative thoughts that may stream through your mind, automatically sometimes. You may write affirmations on a card ─ carried in your pocket, taped to a mirror, or placed where it is always visible to you. Repeat your positive affirmations at intervals throughout your day, to reinforce the positive belief and to maintain a positive state of mind.
It takes constant practice to focus on an affirming thought. Initially, you may not find it easy to hear the affirmation above the internal noise of negative thoughts and feelings. Given enough time, however, you can change most of the basic ideas about yourself by positive daily affirmations.

How To Develop Your Own Postive Daily Affirmations?
Self-developed affirmations (the ones you compose yourself) are the most effective positive daily affirmations. If you couple them with clearly defined written goals and applied faith, their power is unlimited.
To be truly effective, you must write your own affirmations and believe in them; they must have a profound impact on you emotionally. Your firm belief that what you are affirming is possible is crucial, because once you start believing that something is possible, it becomes probable. Without that firm belief, further repetition of your affirmations will just be futile. An affirmation should be a belief in yourself. The desires and dreams that your mind can conceive bear seeds of possibility, and possibilities ultimately become realities.
The emotional dimension of each affirmation should never be overlooked. When you can actually ‘feel' your affirmation, not just utter or read them, their total impact increases immensely. The written affirmations (thus your goals) must ignite an emotional reaction in you, else they simply fall flat.
You should state your positive daily affirmations in the present tense, that is, use "I am..." rather than "I will be..." Saying things in the present tense will program your subconscious mind to believe that what you affirm is already fact. When the subconscious believes that, it will start arranging for bringing what you affirm to you. In other words, the subconscious will drive you to perform the actions needed to live out what you affirm; and, acting thus, you will create the circumstances that make them actually happen for you.
Another important guideline in formulating your affirmations is to write them in the positive state. Many people have the tendency to write affirmations in the negative state ─ which immediately defeats the purpose and the effectiveness of the affirmation. Affirmations written from the negative perspective will never work.
When you convince yourself not to follow certain behaviour, you only bring yourself from the negative to neutral, but there is no movement forward to the positive. When you underscore the positive, you automatically start from a positive note, and you naturally shift your mind-set to forward-looking, positive thinking.

Put Careful Thought Before Affirming
Additional Considerations For Positive Daily Affirmations
1. Because your experience will create the conditions that allow affirmations to manifest, word the affirmations carefully to make them crystal-clear. State your real, innermost desires and articulate your most expansive sense of self. Affirmations based on a narrow self-concept deliver results that fall short, cause suffering, and further diminish the sense of self.
2. Be deliberate in your affirmations. Spontaneous thoughts voiced out in an intense emotional state may produce undesirable effects, so consider many possible alternatives before choosing the affirmation to silently intone. Silent affirmations are more effective than spoken statements, because they entail more intensity of concentration and resonate through your entire body instead of in your surroundings.
3. Link your affirmations to actual daily actions to lay the ground for their manifestation. For instance, affirming that you will win the lottery can only be set in motion when you play in it.
4. Find a way to make it easy for you to do positive daily affirmations. You may find that it is not a habit for you to make these statements on a regular basis. To circumvent this problem, I have been using Subliminal Power, a software that sits on my PC, flashing out subliminal affirmations subtlely as I work. I figured this to be a better solution for me than using an audio, since I am on the PC more often and am not in the habit of listening to a music CD.
You can of course, choose to do a screensaver, using powerpoint slides, with all your positive affirmations in there. This is how my husband does his, on his laptop.
However, I feel that the effect is different. My affirmations get flashed unobstructively on my screen as I work, whereas my husband only gets to see his list of affirmations when he is not on his keyboard for a couple of minutes.

I've been experiencing a rather rough time in my business lately and it drove me back to doing my affirmations.
I discovered my old dairy from 3 years back and went through it to see if it has any old contacts I could use, what i found meant a lot more.
I found my affirmations of 4 years ago and guess what, every single one of them came true and even in my difficult situation today I am far better off than 4 years ago.

I have recently entered a phase of life where my thinking has become overwhelmingly negative. Externally, i am facing great adversity with financial ills, future bankruptcy, broken down liveaboard boat, etc.
Internally, I am feeling resoundingly strong in part to sites such as this one. I have recently acquired some friends that also believe in positive affirmations and a movie that works much the same way called "the secret" may be of benefit to other belivers in postive affirmations.

Positive affirmations really do work. Without realizing it you move in the direction that you think. If you think you will fail, you will move in that direction in small steps. And conversely you will take small steps towards success if you believe you are successful. It doesn't mean that bad things won't happen in life, but your ability to overcome obstacles will be affected by your attitude towards those obstacles. Great article!!

Thanks for a great hub. I also believe in positive affirmations and daily try to affirm verses from the Bible as well as other positive affirmations over myself. I have written out a number of different positive affirmations and Bible verses and taped them to my computer screen so that my eyes often wonder to them as I am working and then I say them. I also believe in what Alan B Densky says above about stopping our negative thoughts or, as the Bible says, "taking every thought captive" to focus on the positive and uplifting.
This is wonderful. Positive affirmations are a great way to push out negative thoughts or negative put downs that so many people have been locked into thinking from years of doing so. At first it can feel weird doing it because it is unnatural especially after years of being told negative things. However, after practicing and saying some of the same ones over and over a person can really change how s/he thinks about him/herself. It is a real awakening. Thank you for a great read!

I went through a VERY difficult period many years ago when I didn't want to go through another day. I read many self help books and finally came to the understanding, which you have put into words here.
You must believe in yourself. You must say that you will have what you need. Things will work to your benefit and you will hae what you need. The power of positve thinking is something that is so strong!
Negativity begates negativity. Think postive for positive results.
I recently came across something called Little Voice Management
It's that little voice in your head that tells you "you can't do it" and "you'll never make enough money". If we can learn to control and reprogram this little voice so that it feeds good things to your subconscious mind, we will surely have a more rewarding life, full of abundance!
This hub is truely inspiring. I am only 15 years old and naturally I was a negative thinker. But this hub has helped me so much in every thought. Now, I automatically recite a positive affirmation whenever I feel down or angry and I've found that I'm not as negative as before.

When one gets caught up in the pressures of daily life, overlooking the good things that that life brings becomes very natural. Thank you for sharing the insight to help us bring the good that is missing back.
Your hub is very positive and powerful.
I believe in this. Sometimes it sounds strange to others when you believe that "everything I do leads to my success", or that "everything works out perfectly". When your car has a flat tire on a busy street and you left your cell phone at home, and there is no sight of help you can choose to believe you are in a bad situation, or that somehow this is going to work out and someone is going to help you. This happened to me and I just knew that someone would be along to help me.
As it turned out someone I had not seen in a while was driving in the opposite direction and recognized my car, and turned around and helped me . I could not get the leverage to loosen the lug nuts to change my tire, and they were taking some things to a thrift store. One of the items was used for the fire place but fit perfectly in my jack to work as an extension giving us the leverage we needed to loosen the bolts.
When you expect the best you get the best. How we think today determines how we live tomorrow.

Good thing I found this early on. I couldn't resist the positive title while sipping over coffee and starting my daily grind. I have found through personal experience that it also helps to build upon your own achievements. You may know how to define this since you seem more physcologically experienced than I:
In college I received a 3.8 for a semester and told myself that I would get a 3.8 the next semester also. I hung the grades on my wall and that letter from the dean (although it wasn't individually written) and low and behold I made the 3.8. I saw the "potential" and next semester I achieved a 4.0 and finished out school that way. I saw it every time I was in my room. Not sure the professional term but it seems along the lines of positive affirmations.

Hi Evelyn, I was wondering...does the length of the affirmation matter? I only ask because recently I read that affirmations of 5 words are less are great however, I find that hard when developing my own such as, "I am a beautiful person capable of practicing integrity". Thanks!

I use affirmations on a daily basis. Having been imbued with a host of negatives as a child, I've learned to rewrite those old tapes. To date, I've been successful. Barbara Altman, author of soon to be released, "Cry Depression, Celebrate Recovery."

There is one very important element to success through affirmations that I'd like to share. When we muster up some really good feelings inside by imagining something really nice or having something we really want and then from a place of feeling truly joyful we do our affirmations, we find that not only do we re-program our thinking but we also speed up the manifestation of those very things we're affirming. Believe me, saying affirmations with passion and excitement will produce amazing and quick results.

This is a really comprehensive and informative post on affirmations. I like that you have added suggestions for affirmations in different areas of your life but I am sure you appreciate the best ones are the ones you create for yourself.
Having said that one of my favorites is:
"Each day in every way I am getting better and better and better"
I think this was from some French hypnotist whose name escapes me for the moment but it is a powerful one in its own right.
One way of supercharging your affirmations is to add visualization. The mind can't distinguish between a real and a vividly imagined event and so this will help burn the desired outcome into your subconsious.

Consequences of parent migration children are deprived from education. Chinyard organization has been implementing several social development programmes for upliftment of destitute people. Promotion of Livelihood Activities: Under this programme Chinyard has organized various livelihood activity trainings like tailoring, dairy farm, poultry, embroidery and vermin-compost training to women self help groups. After the training Chinyard has helped them startup their own enterprises and provided market linkage to sell their product in the market.
2. Rural Small Micro Entrepreneurship Development Programme: Under this Chinyard has given training to 976 women on various rural micro enterprises. After the training Chinyard supported them to begin their own enterprises.
3. Women Empowerment: Under this programme Chinyard formed 5243 women self help groups and provided bank linkage. Chinyard believes in UNITY IS STRENGTH keeping this quote in mind Chinyard organized women into self help groups. For this accomplishment Chinyard has received state level second award. For women self help group member’s skill up gradation purpose Chinyard has organized various trainings and workshops.

Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resource Management Programme: Under this project Chinyard formed watershed committee, community based tank management committee and village forest committee this projects prime objective was to create awareness about Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resource Management. Capacity Building Training for Self Help Group Members: Under this programme Chinyard has given training on the concept of SHG, Credit Management, Unity and Cooperation, Problem Solving, Panchayat Raj System, Right To Information Act, Leadership and Effective Communication, Book Keeping and Account Maintenance.
6. Road Safety Awareness Programme: By this programme Chinyard has taken initiative to provide road safety awareness among vehicle owners, school and college students through street plays, photo exhibitions and dramas.
7. Eradication of Violence against Woman: Through this programme Chinyard organized several human rights awareness programmes among rural people under this Chinyard gave awareness about gender sensitization and mitigation of dowry system. And those who were facing violence Chinyard has provided legal assistance for them.
8. Tribal Handicraft: Through this programme Chinyard has taken initiative to conserve ancient tribal handicraft, and give technical training to upgrade their handicraft skills. Promote market linkage to sell their product in the market. Chinyard has given training to 300 Kasuthi Artisans, 107 Mirror Artisans and 40 Quilt Production Training.
9. Scholarship Amenities to Merit Students: Through this programme Chinyard has been providing scholarships to economically background merit students to continue their studies through this yearly 150 merit student’s benefit.
10.Computer Literacy Programme: Through this programme Chinyard is providing computer education to rural and slum students. Chinyard has also been giving basic computer training to unemployed youths.
11.Animal Welfare Programme: Through this programme Chinyard has taken initiative to construct water ponds in rural areas and started animal fodder center from this center Chinyard has been disbursing fodder to farmers.
12.Micro Credit Programme: By this programme Chinyard has been supporting Micro Credit facility to rural poor masses. This programmes prime vision is support to startup micro enterprise and to generate income generation activities to rural masses. Chinyard has supported 53,200 women self help groups. Till date women self help groups cumulative savings is 4.50 crore and Internal lending is 9 crore.
13.Drinking Water Project: Under this project Chinyard has given bore well repair training to 35 Tribal women to take initiative to repair bore wells.
14.Documentation: Chinyard has been keeping day to day activity reports, if higher authorities, donors require Chinyard will submit the report immediately. Chinyard has done rating care by M-Cril rating agency, Mumbai and also done external evaluation of rural women empowerment by Mahamad Guttigar. Chinyard has published annual reports. Chinyard provides opportunities to researchers to do a study at the organization.
15.Human Resource: In Chinyard’s organization there are 32 well qualified, experienced staffs working over the last 21 years. Chinyard’s staff has passion towards social work and work for underprivileged development upliftment purposes.

We are writing this letter on behalf of CHINYARD, hereby we would like to enlighten you about our organization. CHINYARD is operating in North Karnataka region over the last 21 years. Chinyard is one of the development initiatives rendering service to poorest of the poor. Chinyard’s prime vision is to bring destitute people into main stream society. Because underprivileged masses are deprived from economic, social and institutional opportunities. Chinyard was registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act-1950. For overseas assistance purpose Chinyard was registered under Ministry of Home Affairs for the Foreign Contribution and Regulation Act-1976.
Chinyard’s operation is recognized in drought prone areas; most of the marginal and poor farmers depend only on agricultural, due to scarcity of rains land remains fallow. Therefore peasants are not getting adequate employment opportunities here. Hence farmers are migrating towards metropolitan cities for search of livelihood options. Consequences of parent migration children are deprived from education. Chinyard organization has been implementing several social development programmes for upliftment of destitute people. These programmes are as follows.
1. Promotion of Livelihood Activities: Under this programme Chinyard has organized various livelihood activity trainings like tailoring, dairy farm, poultry, embroidery and vermin-compost training to women self help groups. After the training Chinyard has helped them startup their own enterprises and provided market linkage to sell their product in the market.
2. Rural Small Micro Entrepreneurship Development Programme: Under this Chinyard has given training to 976 women on various rural micro enterprises. After the training Chinyard supported them to begin their own enterprises.
3. Women Empowerment: Under this programme Chinyard formed 5243 women self help groups and provided bank linkage. Chinyard believes in UNITY IS STRENGTH keeping this quote in mind Chinyard organized women into self help groups. For this accomplishment Chinyard has received state level second award. For women self help group member’s skill up gradation purpose Chinyard has organized various trainings and workshops.

I just happen to find this site and so happy I did because it reassure me of my path. I have been struggling with a loss of my husband for the past 10 yrs. I wanted to die so badly -- turn into alcohol, bad relationships, negative people around me. Death of my mom and brother put the icing on the cake. I have been marinating on negativity, low self steem, lack of confidence. scared--you name it I felt it. Will exercise like a mad dog then will drink myself to sleep at night then will get up and do it all over again. No wonder I developed bad knees, painful joints, muscle aches, feet pain, arthiritis. I discovered meditation and the power of the mind. little by little I have been getting out of my rut into recovery. I knew I needed help but to proud or embarrassed to ask. So I started doing research and came across an article about positive affirmations. I downloaded about 250 affirmations into my ipod and have been part of my daily routine in the morning or while working out. I feel so much better, with confidence and able to get up in the morning without feeling the pain of the hangover from the nite before. All I have to say is that positive affirmation and positive thinking really do work. Discard all negativity of your mind and life--you will see changes manifesting almost immediately.

While positive affirmations can be very effective, you can multiply the effectiveness by teaching yourself to stay aware of your persistent thoughts.
Persistent thoughts are the ideas that keep automatically popping into your head. Unfortunately these persistent thoughts are usually negative. You must stop those negative thoughts by refusing to think them. Then repeat your affirmations again. Eventually your persistent thoughts will automatically be positive, and that's when you will really see a difference in your attitude, and sense a difference in how you feel.
